When The Green Flag Flies at the Dickies 500 The 2006 Toys for Tots Campaign Goes Full Throttle
National Spokespeople Dr. Phil and Robin McGraw on hand to collect toys while Dale Jarrett drives this years UPS designed Toys for Tots car
Fort Worth, TX and Quantico, VA - October 25, 2006 The Marine Toys for Tots Foundation national spokespeople Dr. Phil and Robin McGraw kick off this years annual Toy Drive on Sunday, November 5th at the Texas Motor Speedway. As part of this years campaign launch, NASCAR legend Dale Jarrett races The UPS Store / Toys for Tots car in the Dickies 500 NASCAR Nextel Cup. Dr. Phil and Robin McGraw will be on hand to wish Jarrett success and to host a toy collection for children in need.
As part of pre-race festivities, Marines will be on hand from 9:00 a.m. Ð 2:00 p.m. to collect toys. Race attendees are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped gift to the track. Toy drop off boxes will be located at the entrances to Gates 1-7, and Gate 10. Race fans unable to make the race can go online to sponsor a toy at www.toysfortots2006.com.
"Robin and I are happy to be part of this ongoing, extraordinary effort to bring a little joy into the life of children during the holiday season," said Dr. Phil. Added Robin McGraw: "We are especially proud to be working with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves in their 59th year of continuing volunteer efforts to help these kids."
The special Toys for Tots paint scheme racing that day was designed by twelve year-old Annabelle Huffman of Napa, CA, winner of the "Design Dale's Ride" contest. "I am delighted to lend my support toToys for Tots for the second year in row," said Jarrett. "I encourage families everywhere to use Toys for Tots as a way to help the less fortunate members of their communities, particularly during the holidayseason."
Last year, Toys for Tots delivered 18.4 million toys and messages of hope to 7.5 million children. With 13 million children living in poverty according to U.S. Census Bureau, this year's need is greater than ever. "We are honored to have the support of Dr. Phil and Robin McGraw and Dale Jarrett," said Marine Toys for Tots Foundation President and CEO Matthew T. Cooper, retired LtGen. USMC. "Their efforts to raise awareness and support will enable us to deliver more toys and uplift the spirits of children who otherwise might be forgotten this holiday season."
