A Word of Thanks to U.S. Troops

The John Boy and Billy Big Show and the USO
Will Send Needed Reminders of Home

Washington, DC - November 7, 2007 For the fourth year in a row, The John Boy and Billy Big Show is joining forces with the USO to provide its listeners with the unique opportunity to unite in support of America’s brave men and women in uniform this holiday season. "Operation USO Care Package for the Holidays” enables John Boy and Billy listeners to send a care package that will be delivered to service members deployed overseas and include their own personal message of support. This holiday season, the program is appealing to listeners to join the "Rally to Raise 1 Million Dollars!"

Because of heightened security, individuals can no longer send letters and packages to ‘Any Service Member.' Recognized by the Department of Defense, the USO Care Package program offers The Big Show listeners a way to support the members of the U.S. armed forces separated from their families this holiday season.

"These care packages help the USO bring a touch of home to our men and women in uniform,” said Edward A. Powell, president and CEO of USO World Headquarters. "We thank The John Boy and Billy Big Show and its listeners for their steadfast support of the Operation USO Care Package program.”

With a $25 donation, The Big Show listeners are invited to sponsor a care package to be delivered to a service member deployed overseas. These care packages include approximately $75 worth of items the troops have requested such as prepaid international calling card, toiletries, disposable cameras, and sunscreen. Each donor can include a personal message of support and thanks.

"We are proud to provide our listeners with the personal way to show support to our nation’s deployed servicemen and women. The response we have seen is overwhelming,” said Randy Brazell, general manager of The John Boy & Billy Big Show.

The Big Show listeners can sponsor USO care packages at www.thebigshow.com or at www.radiofortheuso.com. Listeners can sponsor as many care packages as they wish and enter a personal note to the troops who will receive them.
